Holiday Ginger Snaps

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1-1/2 sticks butter room temp
  • 1/4 c packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 c granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup molasses
  • 3-1/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1. Cream together butter, sugars, spices, and salt. Add egg and mix thoroughly. Add molasses and blend.

2. Sift together twice: flour, baking soda and baking powder. Add to molasses mixture and stir until blended...CHILL WELL

3.Preheat oven to moderate(375).

4.Using floured rolling pin, roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness on floured pastery cloth or board. Use a cookies cutter to press out desired shape. Place on greased baking sheets and bake 8-10 min.

Makes about 30 cookies, depending on size of cookie cutter.
